  1. Not one documented case of a 351C being installed into a 1969 Mustang has been discovered. Lots of people claim they had an cousin's neighbor's mother's brother's little sister's uncle's 4th cousin's friend that had a 1969 Mustang with a factory installed 351C. Up until about the early mid 90's there wasn't much in the way of performance parts (specifically aftermarket aluminum heads) to make a 351W run. So if you wanted a hot Ford small block you dropped a 351C in. With the exception of the exhaust and a few other minor items, a 351C will bolt up in place of a 351W. So a lot of 351W engines were replaced with 351C engines back in the day. The 351M is a member of the 335 engine family (351C, 351M and 400). The 351M has a 1" taller deck just like a 400. The only parts that interchange between a 351M/400 and a 351C would be the heads, distributor, oil pan, timing chain cover, water pump and maybe a couple of other parts. The 351M/400 use big block motor mounts and the big block (429/460) bellhousing pattern. This was to allow them to be dropped into cars and trucks in place of 429/460 engines. As mentioned before the 351M came out in 1974 which was in the midst of the Arab Oil Embargo which caused huge oil shortages in the U.S. at that time. Many people went to small engines or smaller cars. A 351M/400 would take some work to install in a Mustang. You'd have to come up with some motor mounts, use a big block transmission and fabricate headers since none are made to fit that engine in a Mustang. You'd probably have issues getting headers to work since the 351M/400 is wider than a 351C and headers are tight on a 351C in a vintage Mustang.
  2. You can not interchange 69 and 70 fenders as far as headlight bucket fitment. 1970 Fender 1969 Fender
  3. You can not interchange 69 and 70 fenders as far as headlight bucket fitment. 1970 Fender 1969 Fender
  4. What transmission are you running? Non overdrive transmission I would recommend 3.25 or 3.50. If you're running an overdrive transmission, 3.70-4.11. I run 4.11's behind a TKO 5 speed and I only turn about 2100 rpm at 60mph. Also your tire height is going to play into your gear selection. I have no idea of sub frame connectors for a vert.
  5. Dynacorn is not a manufacturer. They are a middleman. They use different companies to make their parts. These same companies make vintage Mustang parts for other companies. And it's quite normal to not have repro parts fit perfectly. But as BuckeyeDemon said, at least you can buy repro parts for our cars.
  6. Yes! You definitely need to fill a torque converter before you install it. Failure to do so will most likely cause damage to the torque converter and the pump. If you remember the TV show Monster Garage with Jesse James, they failed to fill a torque converter up and ended up destroying a transmission in one episode.
  7. All 302's from 1968-197? have that same casting number. The Fairlane group paid for the engineering of the block. So if you got a 302 in a Mustang, Fairlane, Cougar, F100, etc they all have that same engineering number.
  8. Ok, I think Keanu Reeves is a douche bag. But, I have to say the 1969 fastback was looking good. Looks like there might be a few vintage muscle cars in the movie. I guess I'll have to go see it :)
  9. Don't go by the door tag alone. Go by the dash VIN. Doors get switched on 45 year old vehicles all the time. Is the door tag VIN number the same as the dash VIN?
  10. Yup, that's an 8". You sure your car isn't a fastback that someone did up as a Mach 1? That's every unusual to have an 8" in place of the factory 9". Ever got a Marti report on your car?
  11. Correct OP, post some pictures of the center section and we'll tell you which rearend you have.
  12. You can't just add a piece of steel and suddenly expect your car to be significantly safer. These cars were built with 50 year old automotive technology. Cars today are built so differently from our Mustangs. Even the way the unibody is designed and built in a modern car is very different than a vintage car. Just some things I've learned as a major accident investigator and reconstructionist.
  13. It does sound like a pump issue. There are two different size input shafts for the C4. Do you have the wrong shaft or torque converter?
  14. With as bad as that shocktower is broken I think I'd replace it. Not really much more work than it's going to take to repair it. And you won't have to worry about it cracking again. If you do decide to weld it, make sure to stop drill both ends of that crack. If you're not familiar with stop drilling cracks, just Google it.
  15. I got the threaded insert tool from Harbor Freight to install my mirrors. Worked great.
  16. All year 351W distributors are interchangeable. You probably don't have the oil pump drive shaft lined up perfectly.
  17. If there is a 4 in the top corner of the head next to the valve cover rail, then yes. But you can't tell if they're open or closed chambers unless you pull them off. Sounds like someone stuck the plate in the exhaust ports that close of the bottom of the exhaust port.
  18. What he said. For $450 I would expect to get a complete running 390. They're not rare by any stretch.
  19. Incorrect. Reinforced shock towers only came on big block cars and Boss 302's. There are some cases of reinforced towers making it into non big block/non Boss cars which I have seen for myself. I have reproduction metal from the firewall forward. I can assure you that my reproduction big block shock towers are just as good and strong, if not better, than the originals.
  20. Shifter is the same I believe except neutral safety is in the shifter on the FMX. Linkage rod is different.
  21. I called them a few years ago looking for a part. They seemed like I was bothering them when I called and weren't very helpful or friendly. Their prices are high. Since they acted like I was bothering them when I called, I took my money elsewhere. I mail order tons of parts from NPD, Laurel Mountain Mustang and others.
  22. I have something similar. Honestly, that looks like a very cheap looking instrument panel to me. This is what I have
  23. I get that. That's the beauty of being able to customize your car. It's just the OP inquiring about 14" wheels. I should have added that I would suggest 15" wheels instead of the 14" wheels.
