  1. Can some please explain to me where the ground strap comes from and goes to. I am pretty sure it comes from the head but I am not sure where it goeson to the firewall. Also, do I need to grind away my pretty paint on the firewall to ensure a good ground? Probably a dumb question. Thanks
  2. That was my thought too, there is no need for the gaskets nor these grommets as the cowl is wide open to water. They are very important to 65 to 68 becaue if water gets in you'll have leaks into the passenger comp. Yet another reason why 69's are so much superior to other years.
  3. I got a "Vintage" Mustang calendar, it has 4 Mustang II's in it, THAT SUCKS!!! I did get a remote control airplane, 6 foot wing span. 25 seconds into the flight at about 1000 feet the wind caught it and it was gone. I thought 30 acres would be a big enough area to fly it, not with me at the stick. I did finally find it, with the help of a gps, the debris was strewn everywhere. I just broke out the Gorilla Glue, there's always tomorrow.
  4. I wish I had a chick like this, chicks who poop 69 Mustangs are cool.
  5. Check out page 166 in the NPD catalog, top left. It says the original gaskets were leather, perhaps it's a way of insulating the wiper noise from the body of the car and leaking water doesn't have anything to do with it.
  6. The gaskets would go between the sheet metal and the wiper pivots (the wiper arms would attach to the pivots). Make sense?
  7. I have the cowl cover installed and just realized I neglected to install gaskets on the winshield wiper pivots (Not sure what they are called). These are what the wiper arm mounts to, they attach under the cowl with 3 bolts. I am wondering if the gaskets are required? Thanks.
  8. Why not go to the DMV with the owner and tranfer it into your name. I am not a lawyer but I'd say a lien would be placed on the car due to an outstandin loan. Typically you do not get the title until the loan is paid off, therefore if he has a title it should be paid for.
  9. Keep the stupid Cleveland until you can find a 69 Windsor with the correct date codes for your car. It will give you something to look for at swap meets, rebuild it at your own pace then get rid of the stupid Cleveland. You can sell the stupid Cleveland to a recycler for rebar or someone with something other than a 69 Mustang. I'm not sure why anyone would own anything but a 69 Mustang but they do.
  10. What specifically are you wanting to find out? Stolen? Salvage? Warranty repairs?
  11. Thanks a lot, that really helps. Now I know what I'm looking for. I really appreciate it.
  12. I have a bunch of core seats that I need to make 2 seats out of. If you can't find one let me know and I'll see if I have an extra.
  13. I am installing the cowl and I am a little concerned. I recall there being some little "Stoppers" that mount under the cowl that are used either hold the windshield or position the windshield during windshield installation. I am hoping someone knows what I am talking about, I beleive there are 2. If there is any chance of getting a photo of them installed I would appreciate it. I don't remember what they look like or how they mount. :confused1:
  14. "Problem is, i seem to have a 2" drum (aprox. 2 1/4" when measured on the inside brake shoe contact face), and 1 3/4" brake shoes (measured across the face of the shoe)." "The 2" shoes would have a 2 1/4 to 2 3/8" drum." You said that your drums measure 2 1/4 on the inside, based on the above info you should be good to run 2" shoes. I really don't think the backing plate is different, if it is I might be in trouble when my convertible is on the road this spring.
  15. I saw that, thanks. I was thinking a second reference of an original car might not be a bad idea for all of us. I am looking forwar to seeing some current photos of your car, is it off the rotisserie?
  16. I seem to have lost the ultra fancy foam blocks that are used to support the side of the cowl vent panel that is closest to the windshield. Does anyone have suggestions on where to get these or what to use? I assume some closed cell foam will do the trick but...
  17. You can look at page 61 in the NPD catalog and see where the differences are. The backing plates and axles are the same. The only difference I see is the shoes, drums and hardware kit. You already have the drums so your almost there.
  18. I finally installed the fenders on the convertible. I am wondering if I may have jumped the gun. Is there anything that is mounted to the body/cowl under the fender that is used to attach the windshield moulding or windshield itself? Thanks
  19. Per the NPD catalog, page 61, you should have 10x1 3/4 on the rear. If it were me I'd go with 2".
  20. Thanks for the info. Sounds like you are pretty sure of this so I will proceed as I had planned without the retractors.
  21. Not a pilot yet, planning on flying lessons next year though. I actually set this user ID up for a friend of mine (what are friends for?), he was restoring a 69. He never used it so I took it over from him.
  22. Does anyone know which cars came with automatic belt retractors for the front seat belts? I am guessing the cars with deluxe interiors but I think I am mistaken. Not sure if it matters but I am working on a convertible. Thanks
  23. I actually have an original antenna cable from a parts car. I'm just not sure where to get the hardware to attatch the new one. My new antenna is from Daniel Carpenter, Ford tooling..concours... blah blah blah BS. Thanks for the help.
