OK, now I understand a bit more.  The connections for the hood scoop lights is (as you said) a 4 wire connector for a 70.  That changes things.  It also changes things because I think the front parking/turn lights are wired different on a 69 and 70.  What you need to disconnect is the front combo turn signal/parking light, not the front side marker light. I am not sure you can disconnect them in a 70.  What you can also do is remove the front combo bulb on both the left and right side.
There is another easy thing to try that could indicate where the problem is.  This only works if you have an old style flasher.  If you have an electronic flasher installed, it will not work.  But what you need to try is to turn on your left turn signal.  Take a note of the speed it is flashing.  Then turn on your parking lights, and see if the speed of flashing changes.  Do the same with the right turn signal.  If you have a factory style flasher, and the speed of flashing changes with parking lights on, this could be a clue.
One other question... did this 70 Mach work correctly at one time, and now it is not?  Or has it always worked incorrectly like this?

Yes, they have gone up and will probably continue.  When I see Mach 1's selling for the $50,000 to $100,000 range, it does not surprise me.  How can you have a Mach without a tach?  It should have been standard equipment on them.

OK, let's step back for a moment from the belt issue.  The issue could be electrical with the alternator or elsewhere.  Just because you have a 100 amp alternator, it does NOT mean the alternator is putting out 100 amps when the car is running.  It puts out the amount of amps needed to keep the car running. It could be 10 amps.  I see that you do not have electric fans, and no A/C,  so what is taking all the amps?   The truth is, maybe nothing is taking all those amps, and the alternator is really not working that hard.  Maybe something is taking all the amps that should not be?
What are your special items in the car that consume all the amps?   Halogen lights can, turn them off.  The A/C can, but you do not have it. A sound system can, so turn it off. You need to find out if your car is consuming a lot of power, and where is it going?   I think you have an electrical problem, espicially when you see the voltage drop when the car is running.   Something is fishy.
You need to go about some electrical tests, we can help with that.

For the radiator, I just bought one from CJ Pony parts.  It looks very much like the one you found, but about $200 cheaper.  Sometimes you pay for what you get, and the one you found could be a much higher quality product, but how would we know?
For the AC, if you are going to go to all the trouble of a new system, I suggest the original Ford factory installed one.  You can find the parts, but it is a huge task to install it all.  In the long run, I think you will be happier with the clean look of it.
For the heater hose, you do not need it connected at all.  Mine has been disconnected for years.

Dog on it, I was slow in responding again. I was going to make the suggestion that the motor was not getting the full voltage.  This actually could happen,  just  like the dim headlights on most of your cars.  But if yours is working well, then it is getting full voltage. If there is 14 volts on the battery, there could be 11 volts at the wiper motor, which would cause it to run slow.  I have not heard of this ever being a problem, but it could happen.
In my car the voltage to the headlights was 11 volts when the battery was 14.  So I added the headlight relay.  My horn would not work because it was not getting enough voltage, so I added a horn relay.    The wiper will be next?
Congrats on yours, now move on to the other 6,234 problems.

Yes, it is difficult living in the leftist Minnesota, but with the bad comes the good.  There was a couple good days in 2007.    There is too much feeling bad for others and not looking out for yourself.    I like to think the violence in Minneapolis would not have happened in Texas, but Houston has had their problems also.
The city council voted to defund the police, but the reality is that cannot happen because of the city bylaws.  They must put it up to a vote and see if it will happen, and I am sure it will not.  We might get change, but not defunding.
Slowly stores are opening back up.  Any building burnt out beyond repair has been demolished and the site cleared already.   Summer is returning to Minneapolis, I need to get my car out of the garage and start driving it.

You want all that hot water to stop going to the heater core when the AC is on.   So it is supposed to stop it. The reality is it usually only slows it down.

I am right exactly in the middle of it. I live in Minneapolis, less than 1 mile where it all started.  Seriously, they burned my police station, post office and 20 other buildings within a mile of my house.  I feel relatively safe, but the neighbors did take police action of our own.  I was on my part of  Lake Street for 5 nights in a row, protecting local businesses. We had neighborhood residents, just like me, there to protect them.  Last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I was there from 9pm to 5am, patrolling back and forth with my baseball bat.  That is all I had for protection.  A lot of neighbors were there with serious guns. That is not for me.  But our businesses survived and we did not need bats or guns.  The violence went to other easy targets with no protection.
The violence and destruction came from 20 year old white kids with some wild agenda.  That, along with the fact that Minneapolis has the worst mayor in America, and equally as worthless Governor, and the result is property damage between 300 and 500 million.  But, in going with the mayor's agenda, nobody got hurt.  That was the plan by the mayor when he abandoned  the police station last thursday night and let the rioters burn it down.  Nobody was hurt, for the price of 500 million in property damage. Where do you draw the line?
My Mustang is safe in my garage.  I am safe now, having a cup of coffee.  Minneapolis will not recover for 20 years.  The worst mayor in the history of the country.

Wait a minute, stop everything.  We know the seller, he is on the forum!  It is lilmike. I know he talked about selling his, and this is it.  I would say ask him, he should be trust-able.  That raises my confidence that he is not hiding anything. The price seems more reasonable now that we know the seller.   Ask him if it is a real Mach 1 or if he has the Marti, maybe he is monitoring the forum?

danno got a reaction from Grabber70Mach in AAW wire gauge question.
Whatever AAW used, it might not be large enough for your alternator.   According to the national electric code, for 95 amps, you need a #2 wire.  Wires will create heat when you have current through them, and from the NEC, if you run 95 amps continuously through a #2 wire, it will get up to 60 degrees C, or 140 degrees F.  As an engine compartment is already quite hot, that might not be enough if run continuously.    So you should probably use a #2 wire with insulation good for high temperature.   You would be much better running the wire direct from  the alternator to the battery and not splicing a heavy wire like that into the AAW harness.

danno got a reaction from Shep69 in MSD No Spark Intermittent fault Issue.
Coils are a likely place for intermittent problems. It sounds like you changed the coil, though. If you changed the coil and the problem still happens, then the second chance is the wires going to the coil.  One idea is to install a test wire from the coil to inside of the car. Monitor the voltage on the coil with a voltmeter.  See what the voltage is when the car runs, and see what it is when the car does not work.
The paper clip trick works well, but it is a simple test of the system for a very short period of time.  When the coil fires 4000 times  a minute, it will heat up and react differently.

I would not consider a steering column not made for your car.  It can always be made to work, but that can consume a whole bunch of time.  there should be enough of the correct used ones available for a very reasonable price.  There are also after market "universal fit" ones available, but I have no idea how perfectly they fit.
Vicfreg has 2, buy one from him.  If you want one all fixed up cute with correct paint and like new, then West Coast Classic Cougar should have one.
