I'm more concerned that your entire brake system "went out". What was up with that?

My guess would be the starter solenoid. It's cheap enough to swap out as a test.

How interested would you be in a real wood dash?
NJ_Bob replied to Archon's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
I would just replace the laminated panels with reproductions or if you can find/afford it OEM. The sun shouldn't damage it that fast & will probably last for years. How is the dash pad, is it cracked and dried out? -
How do you people jack up the front?
NJ_Bob replied to cobra460jet's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
I always raise them under the front subframe & then put jackstands there. -
My car is very heavy so the gas-adjusts work well, but they are stiff over the bumps. People swear by the GR2s. I didn't think that the Gas-Adjusts were manually adjustable, are they really?

Look at the Summit catalog, they have things to help low vacuum including pumps and vacuum cansisters. 10.5 seems real low.

Both my brother & I have American Collectors. He had several claims & never had a problem, one was within days of buying the insurance. I just keep paying premiums & have yet to test them out.

That's great! Thanks for sharing.

they are light, can't be more than a pound.

Underneath the rear seat back are a couple of access holes. If I recall, you only need to remove the flat panel toward the back.

Sorry if this was covered in this huge post, but the water jacket sounds like it is clogged. A reverse power flush may clear it out.

A pressure guage sounds interesting. How do you use it?
-
No, I have a stock cam & engine & I'm running about 18"-19" of vacuum.

I have the stock factory PDB setup & after rebuilding everything twice (and the booster once) I still feel as if I have to really step on the pedal to get it to stop. Fast idle almost requires 2 feet! I don't have anything to compare it to, but I don't like it. I'm thinking of upgrading to a dual diaphram booster or at least trying to squeeze an extra vacuum can in there, but I just can't get over the feeling that the stock setup should run better... sigh.
