  1. Here is what i just had to do to mine. (buy the way i am glad i read this post before attempting this restoration step, wow saved me alot of choice words). 1. install lens gasket in housing 2. align lens on top of gasket in housing 3. loosely tighten the top 2 screws and bottom 2 screws (this gives you the ability to adjust the lens around the gasket) 4. hand press evenly in the chrome lens bezel (do not press in one side at a time, this may bend an expensive part) 5. loosely screw in the left and right hand screw to secure the chrome bezel 6. insert bezel gasket (this gasket should trace the outline of the lens) 7. take a popsicle stick or another soft rounded object to press in all around inner and outer perimeter of bezel gasket. 8. tighten all 6 screws. (do not over tighten, you could crack your lens) 9. take the large rubber bezel gasket and lightly spray with WINDEX on the outer FATTer edge of the gasket also the inside. 10. lightly rub around the surface, not to leave any dry spots 11. immediately press the fat side Center in first (see pictures attached) 12. work your way out to one edge at a time. 13. take the palm of your hand and press inward on the top of the gasket 14. press inward on the side of the gasket. 15. repeat for the opposite side. 16 now to the opposite side, just repeat what you had to do for the FAT edge. next thread has remaining photos.
  2. so if i am buying a Edelbrock intake manifold, i should want to buy the 9.5" deck height. Or would this have to be a special order type thing??? ryan
  3. i bought my dream car a 1969 mustang mach 1... minus the engine. I found a 1969 351w out of a 69 cougar (for $175 complete and running). But have been reading alot about different years 351w have different DECK HEIGHTS! does anyone know the history of these engines, what years have what etc. Ryan
  4. i am sure this topic has came up in the past on this forum. I was wondering if any one knows how to disassemble a 69 mustang dash clock? or know where to find a step by step process.... ( i can not figure how to remove the time adjuster knob to remove the lens, that is my issue).
  5. i found two sites that sell these bezels here is the cheapest one i found http://www.restorationperformance.com/servlet/the-115000/1969-Mustang-Instrument-Cluster/Detail they are made by a company called Dynacorn International Inc
  6. So after my last post about how to fix the faded lost chrome around the deluxe instrument panels. I have found a guy who is selling a Reproduction Deluxe Instrument panel. Here is the link, and sounds like they are working on doing a Clock area one shortly as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110431401965&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2F__%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m39.l1313%26_nkw%3D110431401965%26_sacat%3D%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_500wt_1182 Ryan
  7. i have been checking every day, just taking in all the info! I think the only way to get a really good looking instrument panel is to pay the High dollar re-chrome job, or wait for a repro to come out. in the mean time i have been checking out all the chrome systems, but still $$$. Found the 1/8" mylar tape to use on my rim blow restore job in the process! thank you for all your information! ryan
  8. So i have a 1969 mustang A/C car with all the original vents, box, radiator, compressor, etc. The original compressor is so bulky and so is the radiator. I would prefer to use a more modern smaller units (plus probably more reliable). My question is; can i use a modern compressor, radiator, and parts with my original a/c-heater box and vents inside the car??? Or am i just opening up a can of worms that is just not worth attempting? ANyone try? any success/failure? I just do not want to modify my interior
  9. nope, i found him on craigslist that is why i have been concerned. Would you sell one of your sets??? if so how much are you asking?
  10. So i purchased a 1969 mustang mach 1, but one item is missing. The headliner bows! I have been looking for a set, and came across a guy who said he has a set. a set of 4.... This has me a little concerned since i know the 67-68 fastback has only three. I don't want to have some guy sell me a set of coupe headliner bows, and just saying they are fastback set to get rid of them. Please help me with this one? and if you have a set to sell also let me know. (on another note, i did have an opportunity to have a free set of bows off a parts car but totally spaced out when it came to grabbing these parts, ooopps)
  11. So i recently purchased a couple of 69 woodgrain instrument panels and am preparing on detailing/restoration of these parts. One thing i have noticed, is the chrome around the gauges on the outside is just a yellow color. How does a person go about restoring this? I don't trust the chrome spray paints out their, and do not really want to spend $150 per part for someone to vaccum chrome the plastic. What are my options? any suggestions or pictures of completed steps you may have taken?
  12. i currently have a 1969 mustang with a AUTOmatic Power brake pedal. I wish to convert to a manual transmission. My question is can i have a power brake pedal with a clutch? or would i have to convert my brake pedal to a non-power brake pedal to work with a clutch????
  13. yeah i know the bigger scoop should be moved forward, but the hood has the two oval cutouts for the smaller hood scoop turn signals. I guess i will be stuck with the smaller original scoop and just try to keep my engine height lower (oh well for the Vic JR intake manifold!)
  14. I am going with a 351w in my car, and do not know how my clearance will be once the engine is in (incase i use a high manifold). I know the little scoop is original and looks nice, but with the larger i can open my hood and make an actual useful scoop. what do you think???
