  1. Just deciding on what shocks to put in my friends 70 convertible 351C. Car will be used on the street for pleasure and no track time. Was thinking of the bilstein street shocks but couldn't find part numbers. Looking for individual part numbers for the front and back. Thanks...John
  2. I installed two SPI units in my 69 fastback and both failed with sunken plastic floats. Then i went to scott drake..they sell two different ones..the cheapie and a stainless steel one. I bought the stainless steel unit several years back and it has been fine. John
  3. Hello danno: Ha..yes i was down watching the races and had a great time . I had been there years and years ago but forgot how nice it was down there. People were very friendly...awesome facility. Where is home for you? ..John
  4. Interesting comments. Just got back from watching racing in Brainerd. I have it apart..all looks good. A little dirty in the casing and one of the check balls is rusty. It was working though prior to me taking it apart. Just wanting to clean and condition it prior to putting it back into the car. ....John .
  5. Anyone know a source for a rebuild kit for these pumps...was working when i tore the car down but i've rebuilt/replaced just about every electric device in the car. Thanks...John
  6. Just installed a Dynacorn tail panel on a 70 convert...nothing out of the ordinary to get it to fit. Worked well. John
  7. I have a brand new set of Keith Black Hypers in a .030 overbore. Installed them in my engine but had to change them right away due to the twisted wedge heads. Engine was never fired. Removed pistons on the stand. http://www.jegs.com/i/United-Engine-Machine/648/KB115.030/10002/-1 Regards...John
  8. Hey Machspeed...left you a pm with that info. Here it is for others as well if they want some good reading...regards...John http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/drivetrain/1605-put-a-five-speed-in-big-block-mustang/
  9. I installed a tko 600 behind a 302 in my 69 fastback and couldn't get the rear of the tranny up high enough for good driveline angles. So I ordered the new streamlined case covers and have to remove the trans to install them. I also have to mill down a portion of one of the towers where the covers go. Pain in the butt. Tons of room on the drivers side but the edge of the cover hits the tunnel crossmember reinforcement. And i'm not one to cut my car up so...more work..but worthwhile. I'd order the streamlined case if I were you. Can't go wrong. John
  10. I have FLOTECH ceramic long tubes on my 69 302 with no clearance issues. Car initially had a C4 when I installed them. Both sides went in well. The only thing I had to do was to use a drop down bracket for the steering stabilizer. Looking at the tube that was affected they could have easily corrected the bend so I didn't have to resort to the bracket. Since then I've changed over to a TKO 600 with a hydraulic clutch and still no fitment issues. I'm happy with them and IIRC they weren't too pricey. I can post pics if you like. John
  11. Thanks a bunch for the reference material Vicfreg: Where did you acquire the material? And yes I see the difference in the 69 70 HD.. If the car sits 1 inch lower that is fine. Thanks again...John
  12. Hello Vicfreg: I went to the NPD site and looked up the spring they recommend and it matches the 8534 Moog so I ordered that one in . Thanks for the help and i'll give those a try. Regards....John
  13. Yes, I've dealt with him before. Good guy. I'm in Canada so the shipping/exchange has to be kept in mind as well. Thanks TexasED
  14. Posted this over on VFM as well...for suggestions. Just got the convert back from the paint shop and getting ready to assemble. I have all front end parts except for the coil springs. This is a 351C car with non air, 2v carb, original cast intake and FMX. I see MOOG makes two sets: Part number 8234...283lbs/inch ..has a free height of 16.31 and a load of 1668 lbs. Part number 8534 is 428lbs/in...free height 14.69 and a load of 1578. What's the general consensus as far as springs go for this year of stang with the above equipment? This car is to ride as close to the factory without the stiffness of a road/track suspension. Just looking for ideas and a consensus...thanks...John rcodenewf is online now Report Post
  15. Awesome article Randy! And nice car!! ...John
  16. Yep...just installed a steering column in a 70 and those nuts have a captured washer on them. Might want to throw a flat washer under the nut...I don't see it in your photo. Regards...John
  17. Yes, Danno I believe it is potmetal. I'll have to take it to a good metal guy in the city and see what can be done. thanks..John
  18. Hello Danno and thanks for responding. I certainly understand where you are coming from. The only piece needed to complete this build is the header portion that lays on the top of the front windshield.. I can certainly understand that you might not want to separate it from the complete top mechanism and I don't expect you to do that. I guess i'll keep looking for just that part. thank you and best regards....John
  19. Well car is being painted shortly and owner wants it replaced. So, i'm still in search of that header piece if anyone has one. thanks...john
  20. Thanks guys..do you recall what product you used? ..John
  21. Looking for the long piece of the convertible top mechanism that lays across the windshield top. Looks like it is made out of aluminum or white metal. This one is heavily corroded and has chunks of metal missing. I'll try to post a pic of the one on this car. thanks..John
  22. Hey Barnett. I posted my driveline measurements hoping for someone to chime in . John
