  1. Hello MAC390 Thanks again - to me the TMI looks great - but the upholsterer guy asked me to get Distinctive Industries and that is what I ordered from CJ Perhaps the TMI will be better but I don't know enough about upholstery to know the difference. Yes the upholsterer told me to get the TMI foam with listing wires. I am going to ask a few people to try and determine what the difference is in the 2 products. I know this is a hard question - -if you ask 100 people who likes chevy and who likes Fords - I would probably get a 50/50 answer. I just want to try to get the best product for our "baby" LOL THANKS SO much - -Sam
  2. Hello MAC390. Thanks for the reply. The seats look great. I am just not certain what to do. I am NOT happy that CJ took all my info including the DI part number and then shipped the TMI - - Maybe the TMI will work but they should have sent what I ordered I am kinda hoping people will tell me that the TMI are just as good or better than TMI Thanks - -Sam
  3. Hello All, Once again I am stuck with an issue - -PLease bear with me as I explain I talked to a local recommended upholstery shop about re-doing the front seats in our 70 Mach. He recommended Distinctive Industries cover and TMI foam with the listing wire. I did a LOT of searching for DI covers. They list about 80 places to buy. I then checked those suggested places. The places I called from the list - do not sell Distinctive. I am talking MU - Cal Mustang, Sacramento Must, on and on I checked with DI and they gave me a part number. I then called a popular MUstang supplier and ordered the materials. I told them I wanted TMI foam and DI covers. I was figuring about 6-8 weeks. Well the stuff came today after about a week of ordering and all parts are TMI I called the upholsterer and he said let me look at the stuff. I called the vendor and I must say I am a bit upset - -they gave me a bit of a run around and said well we sent you an off brand cover - -but it is shipped from TMI - in their box - - Not real happy but not sure if this a BIG deal or not. If it is - I am going to have some issues returning the covers and then trying to find a place that sells DI. So my question are - - - 1. - Is Distinctive material worth the extra work to try and exchange. 2. - I guess what I am asking is the TMI comparable to DI Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated as always I know this may seem like a tiny issue to most - -but I don't like not getting what I ordered Thanks - -Sam

  5. Hello Mach1 Rider, Ridge Runner, 69Mach, Vicfreg, Mike 65, I gotta say THANKS for all the ideas, tips and advice. Why don't they just put carburetors on these cars LOL - at least I would have a fighting chance As a side note - -crazy weather here in Taxachusetts- - 75 today and tomorrow snow I would like to comment to each responder Mach1 Rider - -I now know where the shrader valve is - -I will check Ridge Runner - I will see if I can "jump the switch" - - What side is the crank sensor on- -I will try to figure that out I feel that it has something to do with the fuel pump - -the car will run for 30 seconds with the starter fluid - but Not going to use that anymore - - I will get a pressure gauge and check - - then I will have my wife turn on the key as I put my ear near the tank - - Thanks for taking the time to read and post for this. Dang cars and kids LOL....he's 30... and his wife is expecting OH boy I am gonna be a grandpa - -yikes LOL Thanks again and I will post results in a day or two depending on weather Be well - -work safe - - Sam
  6. Hello All, I know this is not related to 69/70 but I am asking for a little help and ideas trying to help our son with his 2000 - 6cyl coupe. I like this forum a LOT I am going to be a little lengthy in the hopes that someone can offer a few tips or ideas. The car sat (new england winter) for about 3 months with a dead battery and a full tank of gas. My son installed a new battery 2 days ago and the car started right up. The following day the car would not start. It cranked well but no start. He had me take a look - - I checked the fuel pump fuse - -OK I sprayed some starter fluid (i know this is bad for the cylinders) and the car would run. I am not going to use any more starter fluid - - -cyl walls must ne dry by now. I know it is getting spark - - -I am thinking it is the fuel pump and or filter. One issue that concerns me is that the tank is full and I am not that pliable working on my back. I do not hear the pump when I put the key to the on position but that is likely my old ears I was wondering if anyone has thoughts or suggestions - - Any advice greatly appreciate Sam = =print dad Print Dad - Sam
  7. Hello All, I just got my steering wheel done by Rimblow Buddy. My wife and I are very please - - the wheel looks great- -haven't installed yet but it sure looks nice. I found them very kind and friendly and they took the time to speak to me on phone - I never felt rushed. I was nervous to send the steering wheel but they sent me an e-mail when it arrived. Just wanted to say - - we are very pleased Sam aka Print Dad - - now retired LOL
  8. Hello all, Thanks for the tips and advice. I sure wish I could make a plan and get started. Crazy weather here and I just can't seem to get the umph to get going. Just kinda seems as though I think of a project and it snowballs into a LOT more. I will get this done - -Thanks again Sam
  9. HI friends, Is Danno a member here or a company? I sure would like to find out more Thanks = - - Sam
  10. Hello all, Once again I seek advice from members here. With this being the winter season here I am making a list of things I would like to do to the Mach. I plan to replace the instrument circuit board and the gauges and of course the IVR. This got me to thinking about upgrading the radio. I have a new (still in box) 8 track player from I think a 71 Mustang. My question is - -does anyone know of a company that could work with the 8 track player and allow my wife to use her I-pod? I do not want to loose the 8 track player. I think I have about 6 of them LOL I am hoping that there could be some sort of way to play the ipod by just plugging it in. At one time I think there was a device that played by tuning to a certain radio station - but this sounds like a hit or miss option. I would like to be able to just plug and play Thanks for all the suggestions, comments. advice both in the past and on this Keep wrenching and work safe Sam
  11. Hello jerry, Not too often I write here - but I learn a LOT Take it from an OLD guy - -DO NOT jump out the safety switch. The car is beautiful and in my opinion not worth bypassing anything safety related. I strongly suggest you swap the switch with a new one Just my thinking - -Sam
  12. Merry Christmas to all. Got a few items for the Mach - -I am wrenching again YEAH Hope all enjoy this time of year with family and friends and please remember our troops Merry Christmas - -sam
  13. Growing up a Ford guy was a LOT easier with Mr. Glidden around. Back in late 60's early 70's I spent many Sundays at New England speedway in Epping NH - -it was a great thrill to see Mr. Glidden race. Gave hope to us that loved Fords Rest in Peace - -Mr. Glidden and condolences to your family Sam
  14. Thanks so much for the info. Thanks too for the advice on filling. I will do as you suggest - -Thanks again Sam - - next project - pull the steering box and send it out for rebuilding
  15. Great looking photo, Yup I guess old man winter had arrived. Here just outside Boston Mass we are expecting about 7 inches of snow today - snowing now but not too hard. This signals the official end of the car season here - -they put so much treatment stuff on the roads that our Mach will hibernate once again Remember all - only takes a little snow to make the rear end swing out - -drive careful all Sam
  16. Hello Mike65, Yes you are correct - spring loaded under steering wheel. The turn signals work correct so I guess I will just clean them up a bit. I do have one other question - the directional switch looks a bit dirty and dusty, could you recommend a cleaner spray - I know I can use compressed air for the dust but figure there must be some sort of electronic spray I could use as well, I really stink at electrical but know dielectric grease and I just want to clean this up while I am there. Thanks for the help once again Sam
  17. Hello All, Well the good news is I am working on the Mach - been in a slump So i pulled the rimblow wheel and sent it out for reconditioning. I see 2 small brass" tabs that contact the bottom of the steering wheel. I plan to lightly file these 2 comtacts but was wondering if they are part of the wires coming up the column? Not certain what these (buttons) are called but should I try to replace them while I am in this far? They mak contact with the ring on the bottom of the steering wheel below the rimblow switch itself. I hope i have explained this correct. Any advice greatly appreciate Print Dad - Sam
  18. Hello all, I am sure we all have struggles and issues in our lives - however we should remember we have a LOT to be Thankful for. Have a great day - - be well Sam
  19. Hello All, It seems as though the car season is over and the Mach is resting. Things have been a bit tuff here My wife had a knee replacement about 10 days ago and a few days after the operation - he leg swelled up about double the size. No serious issue, clots or anything - but we are up every 2 hours 24/7. To make things a LOT worse - -went to the bank, withdrew some $$ for the month ( recently retired). Walked next door to the bank and went into a small variety store - - - I purchased a few things and paid with my nice new money neatly in an envelope which was in my front pocket. I paid for the items, turned and walked about 20 feet when I realized I don't feel the envelope. I checked - yup no envelope. Gone in less than 15 seconds - - I must have dropped it and someone picked it right up. So $900.00 dollars gone. That could have paid to rebuild my rim blow and the steering box. A prettyty large sum for a retired teacher LOL On well - - someone had an early birthday present - - LOL I was upset and pretty ticked - -but I hope whoever picked it up can use the money. I realize things could be worse - -but I sure could use a little break LOL Be well all - - -Sam (aka Print Dad)
  20. Hello all, Thanks for the kind words. Yes - -the people in this hobby are what this is all about. I was very excited to see that they followed my advice on a few things and now they know that they have a pretty unique car. The car is in real real nice shape. I was really excited to see them and a few other people at the show that we had not seen in a few years, I guess next year we gotta get back into the routine of going to some shows. You are all right - -it is the friendships that help us all deal with stuff in life. I am glad that some people could in some small way relate to the story. Be well - -work safe - - Sam
  21. Hello Moderators, This is not a relevant post - -please remove. I was just happy to see the couple again and learn that their car was a bit rare. Not really relevant to this forum I tried to delete but can't figure it out Thanks - -Sam
  22. Hello All, Although this thread is about a car show I wanted to tell a great story. We have only gone to 2 car shows this year and the year is about done LOL I must tell a little story to fully appreciate my happiness. About 3 years ago my wife and I were at a car meet - -when a guy came in with some questions about Mustangs. A lot of people advised the owner to talk to me as I have had our MAch 40 years and know a little about Fords So the guy shows me the car and asks me about making a bunch of upgrades to his car. When I looked at the car - I had a strong feeling it was pretty rare. The car is a 67 Coupe but painted "rose type" color. I told the owner about the Marty reports and strongly advised him to get one done on his car. After that I helped him a few times getting the car running better. Then we kinda lost touch. Sunday - -I saw the car and talked to the guy. He pulled out his wallet and gave me and my wife a gift certificate to our favorite seafood place. His wife told me they have had it in his wallet since I first helped him. LOL So it turns out - I was pretty correct - according to the Marty - -the car is one of one built with that color combo. It is rose colored and the Marty even stated the tail light area was painted silver. Of course his car took first place in the Mustang class - (only one trophy for the class). The main thing was it was so cool to re-connect with a very nice couple that have a pretty unique Mustang At the show there was a huge range of cars from Dusenbergs. Packards. GT-40's Lambos and of course vans, trucks, rat rods, customs etc etc. It was great to see a lot of friends and to re-acquaint with this couple. He also has a real nice Goat - - So the day was fun for us and sure I would have loved to win something - -but seeing old friends was so much fun. HAd to tell someone - -(sorry) LOL Be well - -keep wrenching and always work safe Sam
  23. Hello all, Thanks for the replies and tips and ideas Ersin - -the printer is still sitting on the shelf - have not followed up much looking for old drivers for my ope system. I am starting to purchase parts for the front end. I will let you know - - 1969 Mach1 - -Thanks - - yes I am very fortunate to have a pension from teaching and some social security from before I was a teacher. No Masters here - -I was a Vocational print shop instructor - so no high degrees - but I know printing LOL Yes I should be OK once I get the motivation to start doing things. My wife has a long list on the Honey Do list. I am not sure what is wrong with me lately - I will run to help a friend on their car - -pull a motor, drop a trani etc etc - -but when it comes to the Mach - just can't seem to get started and I lack confidence on it - - -really weird - -I can do a lot of things on other peoples cars I think I will be OK once I get started on the car - -there are so many things I need to do. Although the car looks pretty good - it needs a lot of things I want to swap out the gauges and circuit board, replace the rim blow switch, likely put in the timing chain - the car is getting up on miles - - We have only been to one car show this year and we took my wife's Mustang LOL Well I don't want this post to get too far off track. I hope to clean out, grease the steering boa a and try an adjustment on the sector bolt. I do plan to rebuild the front end this winter just not sure if I will do it or find someone to do it. Be well - -all and Thanks - -SAm
