  1. This topic got me thinking. I made my car the way that I would have wanted it. ie. I swapped out the black interior with white and upgraded the 3spd with a 4spd and added air conditioning. I installed a 9 inch rear and made effort to keep everything date or period correct. I upgraded the 351w internal components, heads, intake, carb, and added headers and a shaker. I upgraded the brakes and extended the frame rails. These things make the car look how I want and ensure it performs well and drives solid. The car is solid as a rock and should outlast any 428 mile for mile. This car is built to drive, not sit on a trailer. The car is what I would have ordered with the upgrades I would have done. Have I depreciated the value of the car? Perhaps just changed the market audience if it were to go up for sale? Since it is customized to my taste, why would I worry about marti reports? Knowing it is customized, why would a buyer care either? They either like it or they buy something else. Side note, I see everybody flocking to have the "R code" car because that is the popular trend right now. I'm the guy that would have picked a 351w at the dealership. It is (IMHO) a much more drivable engine that is easier to maintain. I wonder when this "gotta have an R code" trend will settle down.
  2. Deleted due to repeated spam. Sorry.
  3. Thanks for he tip on white paint selection. I look forward to posting more results.
  4. Found some of what I need. Still looking for the two idlers at a reasonable price. This is for a 1969 351w with air and power steering.
  5. Need some input from my team mates here. I am putting air on my build. I have most parts, but need the two idlers from the front of the motor. I am near broke, so I am trying to find local parts to save shipping charges, and I can't afford to get the wrong parts. So, a semi local guy sent me some photos. Can anyone tell me the correct part numbers for the two idlers and confirm what will fit the 351w? Photos of what is offered locally. http://s246.photobucket.com/user/fantasticpinball/media/Cars/1969%20Mustang/imagejpg1-2.jpg.html http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg120/fantasticpinball/Cars/1969%20Mustang/imagejpg2-2.jpg
  6. White dash pad? From the factory? I don't think I have ever seen that. Aftermarket yes. Factory...no.
  7. My interior is (now) white but my parts car was not. I am looking at photos of white interior Mach I cars and I see some with white A pillars and some with black. What is correct? By the way, I have seats, door panels, and sun visors, but if anyone has other parts to complete the white trimwork, please let me know what you have. I am currently painting old or repro parts to get this interior together. Fantastic
  8. For those trying to cut and paste pictures. Try opening a photobucket account and use the links provided there. It takes a little practice, but works..
  9. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg120/fantasticpinball/Cars/1969%20Mustang/imagejpg3.jpg Fresh parts means more progress. I am thrilled to see this project finally coming together.
  10. How interesting. Mine is almost the exact same story. 1991 I left the car behind to join the Airforce, but through a series of events ended up in the Navy. My car was a 1970 Fastback that was Orange with a White interior. I sold the car, the complete pile of parts that it was, to a fellow in Saskatoon. I don't even have a photo of the car. I've never come across an old registration or any clues. I did see an online ad of someone looking for info on a car that looked identical to mine. But, I have no idea what happened to it. It is the one that got away. I replaced it with a '69 Mach I ... gulfstream aqua.. Good story. But the one that I am even more curious about was the mystery barnfind '68 Shelby GT350 that I was called about a few years ago. The car disassembled and rough, but complete...less the VIN tags. It looked like a chop shop car. I paid the $2500 and had it hauled away to a local shop, only to have it vanish from the shop. With no VIN and no way to trace it, I was out the $2500. At least for that one I took a few photos... http://s246.photobucket.com/user/fantasticpinball/Cars/68%20GT350/story
  11. NIce work. It is good to see a project that actually seems to have gone smoothly. Chasing the odd gremlin at the end of the build seems to be a reasonable expectation. My car was down to the same level and many of those photos are near identical to my own. It is good reference materiel as I work on putting together e-brake cables and a few other bits. I noted the dynamat style heat shield on the full interior. I didn't do that on mine, but I figure it is something I can do down the road. The car survived 48 years without it.. Fantastic!
  12. Won an auction for front seat belts. I seem to recall the rear seatbelts did not have retractors. I might do an upgrade so I don't have seatbelts laying on the seats all the time. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg120/fantasticpinball/Cars/1969%20Mustang/Seatbelts.jpg I have bought lots of the parts off my list. They are all made of gold apparently. I am amazed how many parts the doors break down to. A set of fully populated doors are apparently worth as much as this car sold for brand new!
  13. It is a 302 in a '69. You would be well advised to keep an eye out for a replacement engine from a local wrecker. I've seen them for sale in the UK. For what you will spend getting a good engine built, you can buy a crate engine and never have to worry about it. I would not waste time or money on an engine that far gone unless there was a reason to preserve it (ie. numbers).
  14. Waiting to update for the new year. I can't believe this project has been gone on so long! I was able to buy a lot of the parts I need to get going again. Most of them are enroute from CJ Pony. I am always frustrated buying from them because they flash all these "free shipping" signs and then I get nailed for shipping into Canada. To rub salt in the wound they give me loyalty points that expire long before I would save up enough for another shipment of parts. So tired of the "made of gold" parts prices. At least I am getting closer to finished. Maybe I'll soon get to hear the new engine that has been sitting in the engine bay for years and has never been started!
  15. I saw these called speed shapes. The ones I saw were clear, and sprayed from the bottom to show the color after it would be cut and cleared.
  16. Not saying I would ever do this, but has anyone ever seen a hood scoop style converted into a shaker? I am talking about the scoop that mounts on the hood made into a shaker scoop through the hood. Just wondering...
  17. i found a junked car with a driver door wiring harness and loom. I'd like to put this in the car, but I'll need a passenger side to match. Anybody have an extra they can spare?
  18. Looking for a c9ze-6312-b This is a 3 groove pulley for my 351w with air and power steering There will be some more parts I need to put together the front of this engine. It had March billet stuff on it, but not right for my app. Pm if you can help
  19. There has to be a better way. I use my car as a socialization tool, to meet people with similar interests. This spam thing is killing my mojo. I would be willing to have all users suspended until we can set up a better filter.
  20. I am working on the doors of my Mach I. I can't believe how many parts are involved with putting this together! Does anyone have a full parts list broken down by sections, such as the doors, to make sure I don't miss anything? Yes, I have all the manuals...
  21. I recently sent one out to Edmonton. Did you find what you need?
  22. Rusty, you truly rock. In this world of quick and shady, it is great to see that someone knows how to do it right and is willing to actually do it. Your build photos are pure gold.

  24. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://s246.photobucket.com/user/fantasticpinball/embed/slideshow/Cars/68%20GT350"></iframe> Please keep an eye out for this '68 Mustang Fastback (Shelby GT350) It was taken to Flying M trucking in London Ontario in 2009 but was stolen from that location. The owner of Flying M says he knows nothing about the car. This car was sold as salvage and does not have a vin tag. For this reason, police were not able to offer any assistance. Please look at the photos as this car and parts do have some very recognizable unique features. I have given up hope of recovery, but it would like to know the story of what happened to this car and/or the parts. http://s246.photobucket.com/user/fantasticpinball/library/Cars/68%20GT350?sort=6&page=1
