  1. I saw some great info on the thermo clutch fans on here.. i think long term i'll go that route. i tried to hook up the shoroud with a 5 blade fan i also found (trunk is full of spare parts...) but the bottom of the shroud hits the fan... same with the four blade... is the rad to high or the engine too low? :whistling: and how do i figure out a baseline? i may cruise down to Laurel Mtn Mustang and hope they can figure out what i've got going on..
  2. Hey Folks As i'm getting familiar with this Grande - i noticed that the fan blades on the cooling fan are pretty jacked up. like someone 'massaged' them to fit..and really close to those lower cooling lines on the radiator... The fan on there is blue and silver, 6 blade flex fan I have a nice looking glossy 4 blade OEM fan. Radiator is a 3 core on a 69 grande 302 - I assume that with a shroud the OEM one is cool to use...hehe..cool.. Is there any magic trick to changin the fan? unbolt and rebolt?
  3. good call. same thing happened on my CJ. i traced wires for a month until i finally pulled the (*&)(*&*&**Q)(*!* thing again and realized the float was full of fuel...
  4. Definitely good advice for a zealous newbie. There is some leaking etc. the engine was rebuilt a couple years ago, then it did some sitting. i'm going to go through and re-snug a few things.. i saw some oil around one of the manifold bolts, tranny pan is marking it's territory etc..
  5. Nope. it's a California car originally. Fella brought it over from Cali to PA about 2 years ago and now has some serious rheumatoid arthritis so he sold it... so far there are a few little leaks - heater core, tranny pan, and oil pan plug drips a touch... need to add some gauges - maybe a new cluster, The fuel gauge is the only one not working at all. floor pans are awesome, body is awesome. needs some interior work, a little clean up in the steering and some solid engine dress up. the engine was rebuilt but they didn't paint the block or anything like that. man i cant wait to get into this thing thanks guys z
  6. Here are some pics of the little gal i brought home. 69 grande with a 302, 4v, edelbrock performer intake, cam, c4 .... nothing special but it's in great shape to start Here's a link to my photo gallery online http://picasaweb.google.com/zach.coss/1969Mustang?feat=directlink i'll try to post some pics in the thread when i get a chance -Z
  7. Have you guys done this on the interior and exterior/underbody or strictly underbody? I used Durabak on the interior of my jeep CJ and the stuff has lasted extremely well. I just pulled the carpet on my mustang and the floors look great, now i'm trying to figure out what to use to keep them that way.
  8. Ok, at the risk of wearing out my welcome -newbie- free time; here's a couple more i couldn't find exactly with the search: 1. Ripped out the carpet - floors look awesome - what have you all used to keep them that way? any kind of herculiner etc? 2. i want to go through and retorque everything - anyone know the torque sequence for the intake manifold, or transmission pan? (shop manuals are on the way) Again.. thanks!
  9. Excellent call on the bulb mount! found where the mystery wire went. Thanks everyone for the help! I've got a huuuuge list of stuff to figure out on this ole gal.. i appreciate all the help so far.. -z
  10. awesome. thanks S! i'll probably sit tight until some of the parts catalogs i ordered roll in so i can look for the bushings and that sort o' stuff...
  11. nope, all the lights are working - the fuel gauge; however, is not. I haven't crawled underneath yet with the ole test light to psych it out. I dont even see anything back there for this wire to connect to...
  12. I have the whole assembly. I've got the carpet out and i've looked at everything but decided to hit the forum before i start pulling pieces out. how do i adjust the Neutral start switch? if there's nothing tricky about it i'll probably crank it out this week, once some of my other parts roll in.
  13. I've got a 69 grande 302 auto, the shifter is super sloppy. The guy i bought it from had another one in the car that doesn't feel sloppy. The one in the car now has a black vinyl grip, the other is exactly the same but all chrome. How do you go about changing these out? the only difference between the two appears to be that the 'more solid' one has a lock washer on the arm that connects down to the auto tranny - should I just add one to the shifter that's in the car? to swap them out does the car need to be in D, P, N etc? comments, questions, advice or snide remarks?
  14. No dice on the mystery terminal in the rear? Here's a few more questions: What aftermarket tach works with no adapter to the MSD6A box? I have an extra hole below my ignition switch and my wiper washer switch.. anyone know if that's factory? I saw something mounted there in someone's pics but it was too fuzzy to read. thanks z
  15. OK, here's another question - In the trunk by the passenger tail light harness there is a black wire with a spade connector -male - it's not connected to anything, i can only assume that it should be. anyone know what it goes to?
  16. Awesome. Thanks guys. I'm not sure how original i'm going to stay with this gal yet.. i'm leaning toward the nice clean 6 hole set up though since all the rest of the interior needs replaced, and the motor has been modified already as well...
  17. Hey everybody! my name is Zach, and i'm a stangaholic. I've wanted a 69 since i was a kid and i just brought one home tonight..i've got a few questions that i'm hoping you all could point me in the right direction on: 1. Who's running an Edelbrock performer 289 manifold? this one has one but it needs cleaned up - what works well? 2. Anyone have a good source for a Factory Service Manual 3. I have no dash lights, and all the gauges are working but the fuel gauge..how tricky is getting that gauge cluster out and does anyone recommend the aftermarket ones? I'll be searching the forum probably all night for more answers, info and ideas - thanks in advance for any advice. the car: 1969 Grande, 302 4V Edelbrock Performer manifold, Edelbrock Carb, cam, auto tranny, rugged interior.
