  1. I am after details of how the fiberglass panels are fixed around the trap door on a 69 mach1. There are numerous holes, but none that line up with the holes in the steel panel around the trapdoor. How many rubber stops are fitted for the trap door, and what location should they be in? I can only find reference to 2 rubber stops. Thanks for any help. I'm into my third year of resto, and it is starting to look like a car again!
  2. Yes, I can relate to scope creep. I had to do similar things to get permission to restore my Mustang!! Shame about the camera though... The shell is still on the rotissery(?), with underbody all completed and coated. Un denting the lower left hand quarter now, and when that is done, the shell is complete. I drilled over 200 holes in the roof skin. Have yet to install the little pins that retain the chrome strips, but I have the rivet type. Have the rear louvre and wing, so I can drill and paint the fixing holes before painting. Sooooo many things left to do.

  4. Legion, have you finished the roof skin yet? I have welded mine on, but don't know how to post pictures. I would be interested to see how yours turned out.

  6. Thanks guys, panels are in, pick them up tomorrow. Will have time to think while I cut the old panels off. RH Door skin is off, and more rust hiding inside! All patched and sandblasted now, so will skin it next week.
  7. Thanks Legion. I would appreciate that. I have seen the clip replacing the skin on a 68 racing car. Most modern cars use some level of gluing in the assembly, so I guess it shoud be OK. I look forward to hearing how it goes.
  8. thanks Un. Hope to get new skin in a week or so. RH rear quarter is due then as well. Currently replacing RH door skin.
  9. Hi guys, I have to replace the roof skin on my fastback. Would anyone out there have any experience with this? I have seen vids of skins on racing cars being glued on with modern adhesives and welded on each corner. Heat caused the problem, so I am worried about plug welding the the new skin onto the car.
  10. Hello all, I have been working on my 69 fastback, replacing battery apron and radiator support. The battery apron and radiator support on the car were damaged by an accident and rust, so I couldnt take any measurements prior to removing purchased a drawing showing rail dimensions for checking alignment and the rails are straight. Is there a measurement, or series of measurements that would ensure the aprons are aligned correctly before I weld everything in place? The left hand inner gaurd seems to be about 12 mm past the left hand end of the radiator support. I have ordered an export brace and monte carlo bar to ensure the turrets are in the right place. Thanks for any help. I am in Australia.
  11. Greetings guys, I have been offered a set of Mach 1 seats, but the release lever on the back of the seat is at the bottom of the seat-back, not half way up. All Mach 1 interiors I have seen pictures of have the release leaver half way up the seat-back. Was there an earlier version with the lever lower down, or are these seats from a different car? They sre supposedly from a 69 Mach 1.
  12. Thanx guys. As mine is Acapulco blue, would the stripe have been blue, or still red, as on you 'stang CJ? Standard wheel covers would have been hub-caps, or the full wheel covers? I plan on using the Magnum 500 15" rims when I get to that stage. I am trying to source all the gear to fit original air-conditioning in the car as well, so am hoping the wiring harnesses for that is just a plug-in to the original harness. Thanx again for your help.

  14. G'day, does anyone know what the 'Sports Decore Group' options were? I have bought an F code 69 fastback in Australia, and the Marti Report indicates it was built with this option, as well as rocker-panel mouldings, power disks, power steering. It wont be concourse, but I am interested in restoring it to original condition as best i am able. The motor and gearbox have been changed to an M code 351 4v and FMX auto. I haven't been able to find the description for the Sports Decore Group in any forums and would appreciate any guidance you may be able to give.:surrender:
