Replacing the OEM style pins and bronze bushings is also an option for less money. That's what I did.

Granted, it's not nearly as robust as the grease filled zerk kits but it is a lot cheaper. When these cars were daily drivers and the doors were getting opened and closed a dozen times a day, 365 days a year, the hinges wore out. I figure my car is now a toy that gets driven a a couple dozen times a year so the OEM style should last me a lifetime.
The zerk style would probably last 5 lifetimes but that's more than I'm going to need. :)

It's been a while but I believe I filed the pins enough to get the letter straight , then used a dab of silicone adhesive to make it stick.

Test fit them first and stand back and look at them before attaching permanently (with the nuts) -- I had a problem with one of the re-popped letters being crooked (I think it was the "N") and had to tweak things to get it straight.
I also had the OEM lid with the factory holes.

FWIW, I was in a similar situation with my 302 vert a few years ago. I have a numbers matching car that I wanted to keep looking as it did in '69. Not concours but at least period correct.
I went with a roller cam  and roller rocker conversion mostly for reliability and longevity reasons, but I did go a bit more aggressive (Comp HR216/325-2S-12). I kept the stock compression, heads, and exhaust manifolds but added a dual exhaust (I have long tube headers but couldn't get happy with them so I shelved them). I had lost the original 2-barrel carb but had an Edelbrock F4-B intake so  I added a Holley 600 CFM and went 4-barrel. I added Pertronix ignition.
Now I would never argue that this is a sensible approach to adding real performance - the stock heads and exhaust manifolds are awful - but I did end up with a nice running engine with decent torque and I'm quite happy with it as a weekend cruiser. And to the untrained eye, it looks totally 1969 stock.
I have the original intake and a replacement Autolite 2100 carb on the shelf and I also entertain the notion of adding some better heads and headers at some point as well...so the options to move either way is always there.

Yep, otherwise known as an Emminger report. Cool stuff. You can still get them from Kevin Marti. I highly recommend it for those of you who haven't got one.

OK, it's not a '69, it's a '65. A twin-turbo, 1400 HP, AWD '65 driven by Ken Block. I used to think it was cool to light up one tire on my small block Mustang. Kind of amazing watching an AWD car smoke all four tires...

I don't think Ford offered the 302-2V in the GT. Still a good idea to find out what it is before making any plans, IMHO.

Sorry to hear about Sadie. I've had 2 German Shepherd mutts and they're terrific dogs. But you still got a Harley knucklehead now - that's funny :)

I lost my big girl yesterday - she was eleven, not bad for a such a big dog but way too soon for me. She went peacefully at home - very sudden, very unexpected. I sure will miss her. Give those Mustang watch dogs a little extra attention  this holiday season, because time sure flies!

I now work for Roush.  You'll likely recognize the picture.  Its a framed pic that is hanging in his museum.  Along with race cars he has a really nice 69 CJ.

My advice whenever you get a new turn signal switch, is to put a piece of black electrical tape on the back side covering the rivets.  The rivets can touch the steering column under certain circumstances and that shorts out the whole TS switch.  It's good insurance and costs nothing.
