I live in Ridgefield WA. Just north of Portland OR. I bought the car as a "drove when parked" situation near San Francisco. Had no idea if I could get it running. 351 cleveland 2V. not original engine. After entirely new fuel system from gas tank to carburetor, and a fixing a massive leak at the shifter on the FMX, I have it running and driving. I've spent about $8,000 at CJ Pony parts already just on the interior parts (interior was completely trashed.) Still thinking about how I want to attack the restoration. 20211106_170749.mp4

Talk me out of painting my car

Assuming you have the cash on hand & found someone reputable. I would take headliner & windshield out & have it painted. Install a new headliner & glass, then reassemble. Everything else may be done as time & $ permit. maybe you will not have shinny bumpers to match the shiny new paint but in time you will.

    Carlisle Ford Weekend 2022

I go every year. Lots to do over the 3 day event. Every year the Carlisle All Fords event has a theme and features certain Fords with a large indoor representation of those cars in building T. This year the Carlisle is recognizing the 60 year anniversary of the Shelby Mustang. In 2021, Carlisle recognized the 50th year anniversary of the 1971-1973 Mustang body style. I was invited to bring my 1973 convertible and join the many other 71-73 Mustangs on display and featured in the 50th year anniversary of the 1971-1973 Mustang event. Besides the massive swap meet area, and cars for sale, there are lots of vendors. On Saturday and Sunday there is a huge car show. I am member of the First State Mustang and Fords, a local club here in Delaware. We rent a spot, as do many other clubs, and step up a large tent where club members and guests can eat and relax. Let me know if you decide to go this year.

    Panhard Rod - Seaking advice

The V-Band clamp on Vic's set-up really helped in getting the system in and out of the car numerous times. Once the over the axle portion was where is should be, the rest had to be finessed into position. There is a lot of clearance between the bars, nothing is close in this area. Now the tips, thats another story.

    Panhard Rod - Seaking advice

I have one on both of my cars. The original Boss 302 suspension book has the details on how to make one. I used Chris Alston Chassisworks stuff, and I like it. It is adjustable. The panhard bar keeps the axle centered under cornering, similar to a Watts Link. I think it feels more stable. Some pics of mine attached. Some literature attached.

Thanks for the advice guys. I searched eBay, craigslist and facebook across the country and finally found a Mach 1 set for sale 2000 miles away. Was about to pull the trigger and deal with the inconvenience and pay the shipping when I decided to do a WTB locally. I found these Grande seats just a few miles away. It is the first dollar I have spend on parts for the car. I expect to spend many more dollars in the future (sigh).
