The B302 gusset would be my first choice for reinforcements. Use poster board for your template and get it fitting like you want it. You can easily cut out your own plates from 1/8" material with a grinder / cut off tool. Your 140a welder should be able to handle this with ease. If you're wanting to do the big block style reinforcements it might be a little more difficult, but some 3/16" plate and some creative bending will result in quality parts. Fitting these pieces will take a large hammer to adjust various components, trim and tack weld in place. This thicker material may be a little much for your welder as you will have to run it wide open. Bevel all weld joints to help with the lack of penetration. A little grinding, and it will look better than factory. If you are wanting to go a little overboard, you can reinforce the UCA attachment area. More cardboard templates and 1/8" material will be needed to build your own. Fully welding all factory seams and using several small filler pieces to fill in the recessed areas then plating over all of it, fully welding all seams with added rosette welds in the middle, and re-drilling your holes, you'll have some pretty strong towers.

I've had my Mach 1 since April of 77. It sat for years at a time and just became that much cooler to own. When I did have it running it wasn't a great driver until I upgraded to a rack-n-pinion about six years ago. Now I look forward to every minute driving it. Just wish it had air conditioning this time of year. Oh, I did manage to drive it to lunch today to meet an old friend that hadn't seen the car in 20 years. She was blow away. Moral of the story is that finally going restomod brought back the thrill of driving the old beast. Kyle T

    National Mustang Day Event

I am a founding member of the Mustang Owners Museum. It is located right up the road from Charlotte Motor Speedway, in Concord, N.C., adjacent to the Daniel Carpenter manufacturing complex. The Museum has just recently opened, and is starting to book a lot of events. There is a long story about how this Museum actually got off the ground, and was actually allowed to use the name Mustang. Anyway, I have pasted the link for the Mustang Event below. https://www.mustangownersmuseum.com/2020-nmd-event.html#id=128&wid=5201&cid=1250 The other thing is that they are likely going to expand the Museum, and if they do, you might be able to buy a "brick" for the walkway that leads up to the Museum. I got one for my family, as we all have owned Mustangs. Over the years my Uncle, Cousins, and I have owned nearly every model of the early (64 to 73) generation Mustangs. Here is a picture of my brick....Fregonese is my last name, and my family has gotten a real kick out of this..... Hope you can get there someday. Vicfreg

    Best reproduction parts?

I looked. I think I lucked out and cashed in on someone else's mistake. They still list the carpet I bought but now the price is $314.99. Still the best price around. https://www.ecklers.com/1969-mustang-mach-1-fastback-molded-nylon-carpet-set-with-mass-backing-red-inserts-44-456685-1.html Kyle T.

    Best reproduction parts?

I got a hell of a deal on an ACC mass backed carpet. I got a unsolicited add from Eckler's and it had some mustang stuff so I looked close enough to spy a mass backed carpet for $211. Mine was 50 years old and past due. Further research led me to find out it was really from ACC and coincided with ACC's part number for their best carpet which is usually sold for about $375. I took the risk and I am glad I did. Looks and fit great. I'm not sure it's still available but if it is you can't go wrong. Straight from Eckler's invoice: Part # Description Ordered Subtotal 44-524048-1 1969 Mustang Fastback Complete Carpet 1.00 211.88 Good Luck, Kyle T

How the hell did you lift that car high enough to get it on that rotisserie ?. The underseal seems to have done it's job, the floor looks very nice.

Yes it is. And as I once heard Jerry Van Dyke say on Carson, pie are round, corn bread are square.
