Full body paint - Yes or No

That's a tough decision that I may face one day as well. My car looks great for the most part but whoever painted it missed some details and now there's some chips and nicks on it. Thing is that if I paint it now to make it perfect am I going to be too paranoid to drive it and enjoy it. As it sits now I use it all the time and don't get all wound up every time I park it somewhere. Something to think about before dropping the $10K

Thanks, Mal. I appreciate it. There's no body work going into the truck other than fitting it to the chassis and decking it out. It'll be left just as it is, original, rusty and worn out looking. I'm even hoping I can leave all the rust holes in the fenders.

Full body paint - Yes or No

Tough decision. Consider the cost now to color match. If the budget isn't there for a full repaint I would seriously consider the path of color matching. If you are going through a body shop, you will easily have 8 to 10K in paint. Lastly, I would say most of us have more invested in our cars than they are worth. It's the nature of this hobby and not like what is seen on television. Most of us don't consider our cars a money making investment.

    1970 Grabber Green Project

I have been very lazy the past several weeks, just had all kinds of excuses to not work on pretty much anything. The wife and I have been on several adventures (one was to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky, you all gotta check that out), lots of autumn fishing excursions, and getting everything ready for the winter months (i.e. splitting wood lol) I've gone out and got me a Coyote motor, just because... It came in it's very own special shipping crate... 2017 GT with the performance package (can you say 15" Brembo's up front?) 3.73 tortion diff. and Recaro sport seating, it's fun and a much "needed" upgrade for the DD. I dug out my passenger side door shell out of the waiting to be fixed pile as I needed something straight forward that didn't need "inventing". (I'm kinda at a standstill with the tail lights, I've got to get my hands on some buckets.) The shell has been sandblasted forever ago and it hasn't rusted at all, which I am amazed. This shell is in very good shape with only a few areas that need some attention, like the lovely speaker hole someone used a hatchet to form. The usual cut and weld new metal in (I'm surprised I can still do this lol) didn't take too long. I've got it welded up and ground all nice and neat. There is a crunchy area on the bottom rear corner that will have to be fixed next and a few small screw / pinholes that will have to be taken care of, then it will be epoxy primed. I promise I'll do better and keep my project moving, even if it is slowly....

No far now, just got to wire up the fuel pump and the ignition electrical, start it then the exhaust system. The interior needs a couple of bits and the console needs parts which are expensive.

    Battery Maintenance

Good reason to go with a quality charger with float mode. Our boats AC Converter/Charger had heat sensors on all the batteries making it almost impossible to fry a cell it would either go into float mode or shut that bank off. I left it plugged into shore power for 5 years without any failures, very seldom added water maybe 2 oz per battery a year. The Schumachers auto line have all that built in with their upper range charge they are a quality brand. I don't like buying from Schumacher after match racing Don for years. That's the same Schumacher that has a field of 3-4 Top Fuel Dragsters & Funny Cars DSR.

Big update today... First time it has ran in 6 years. I need to re-tighten the valve covers since the gaskets were leaking but it ran. Other progress since last update: power steering was leak tested and is tight tested new fuel sender and it is good filled with antifreeze and the water pump and thermostat are good All gauges look good to do: Finish setting timing and idle switch to electronic points and new coil (pertronix and flamethrower) install gas tank fix passenger side low beam light (might replace all the headlight trim rings) re-install grille lower car and tighten suspension components get an alignment Insure, inspect, register and drive.
