I wouldn't make it a motion that is necessary to normally start the car- I think most crooks would try the obvious, like clutch or transmission lever. mwye0627 has some great ideas. A guy on VFM had an interesting method: he put a magnetic reed switch behind the metal dash and activated it with a magnet on the other side in the passenger compartment when he wanted to drive. That ran a relay with a normally closed contact that was put in the circuit as I showed above. You could position it behind the dash anywhere and it would be darn near impossible for a crook to figure out. The only reason I haven't tried that is because I would worry about the metal of the dash getting magnetized and holding the switch closed all the time. I would put it somewhere on plastic like around the steering wheel, or the gauge cluster, or the console.

Can I cut out the Regulator wires?

Why not gut a regulator. Then hook the wires up to your now dummy regulator. It will look stock.

    Header install with an FE

Hi John, I just installed custom headers in my 69 that has a FE 390. I installed the headers first then installed the engine. Then I installed the T-5 tranny and etc. That seem to be the most efficient way for me. I would do the same again. Here is what I learned. 1. My custom headers hit in 3 spots. The top idler arm bolt, passenger side motor mount corner and driver's side shock tower brace. So it was easier to pull the engine and fix the three areas. So much for custom fit headers. 2. When the engine was in you could not have got all the bolts in. I assume you could raise the motor and work over the fenders to install them. So much easier when out and greatly lowers the chance of exhaust leaks. 3. Less chance of damaging the engine, engine bay or vehicle. Mark

Good stuff... I have used the "Cigarette Lighter Switch" on a couple of vehicles. I have also used a small switch attached to where if you pulled the parking brake release out just a little, you could start the car... I have found over the years that any unique hidden switch keeps unintended people from being able to start a car... The possibilities are endless... How about a switch hidden to be closed only when the upper A/C vent is in a certain position??? I LOVE outsmarting the crooks!!!

Front End Alignment - BAD NEWS

This may be due to poor/cheap "new" repro parts. I have been amazed at how many parts you can get for these cars at really inexpensive prices. Unfortunately, I think the competition for lowest price drives some places to deliver substandard equipment. So in more cases that I ever expected, I found the "new parts" were fine when I brought them, but they wear out super fast, or don't work as well as originals. I wonder if you inadvertently bought inexpensive ball joints when you put them in, and they just weren't a good product? Makes me wanna go check mine - they have about 3K on them now...

    My Son Mike's 69 Mach 1 Restoration

As usual there are a few surprises. The rear of the car has been wrecked and the rear frame rails are not in the right place. Also some very poor repair work. So I am going to build a jig to put new frame rails in the correct locations using another car. That will take some extra time but will be worth it to get the rear part of the car started to a correct reference.
